How do you spell Cat (Kat)

Lately we have been working on improving our presence on the world wide web. We have been: Updating our listings of products on Amazon; creating a new look on our actual shopping website and creating some new posts on our blog site. Oh! and don’t forget the other selling sites we are on! Esty, Ebay, and Walmart. All this work to let you kitty lovers be aware of our huge selection of fun entertaining toys for your favorite feline friend.

The question always comes up when we look into things is why is our company name and brand Kats’N Us? Why do we have a URL of “catsnus” and katsnus? Why is our company name spelled with a “K” instead of a “C”? Very good questions, hopefully this is a simple answer.

Way, way back in time when we started this company, my wonderful husband created the name Cats’N Us. It could have been Cats and Us, but why not make it a little fun? There was a company at one time called Toys’R Us, with the R showing in reverse. It was a big toy store that was very popular. That is what gave him the idea for our name. So we looked into trademarking the name and finding a domain for the website. Well, at the time there was a pet rescue organization that had the name Cats’N Us. There was also a different company that owned the domain. So what do you do?

We had created at that time, one of our cat toy packages that we call the Cat Kit. A tube of assorted toys that would be a great gift idea for any cat lover. They are still popular to this day. But we changed the name from Cat Kit to Kat Kit and then thought why not do the same with the company name? So Kats’N Us was born. We bought the domain for katsnus.com, trademarked the name, and we were off and running. A few years later, the domain of catsnus.com came available and so we bought that one too. You just never know how someone will spell the name! Of course in the world of the internet, the spelling does not look right…..catsnus or katsnus. You would be amazed how many people say that word with confusion. But it is a conversation starter for sure.

Now, what do you do with 2 sites? Well we decided that the catsnus.com site should be only for shopping. Which left the katsnus.com site for blogging. We looked at the blog site as a place to share pictures of our kitty staffers, kitty stories, customer pictures and tips. Stuff you can not share on just a shopping site. You have those that just want to shop and those that like to shop and share stories. Best of both worlds.

Does that answer the question? Not sure but you can find us in either place. Playing with the staffers, filling orders, writing posts or creating new toys! Enjoy!
