Standard Airline Pet Carrier Crate Guidelines.

There is a lot of information out there today about how to travel with your pet. There are numerous websites with guidelines, hints, tips, rules and products to buy. There is so much out there that it can be very confusing on what the right rule is, what has changed and what to do. Even when writing this article and doing research I have found that a lot of websites do not update their pictures or update the information that goes with the requirements for pet travel. They have taken the time to do the research for you and they are more interested in giving you the right information then just getting a sale.

The airlines for years have used for the standard airline pet carrier size the Pet mate Sky kennel series crate size for their guidelines. They for whatever reason have not taken the time to evaluate the different carrier options that are available today. The crate sizes for the sky kennel series are a great place to start as minimum requirements for each size but keep in mind that this is a guideline and not set in stone. If the carrier you choose fits within their size guideline and fits into the IATA Crate requirement guidelines you are on your way to figuring out what is best for your pet when traveling.
